Khattar announces new master plan for Faridabad-Palwal area alongside Yamuna

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar chaired the fourth meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) and made significant announcements regarding the development of Faridabad and Palwal districts. He revealed plans for a new master plan for these districts, which border the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. The key strategy here is to declare the Yamuna area as a controlled zone to facilitate this development.
During the meeting, a budget of over ₹878 crore for the year 2023-24 was approved. This funding is earmarked to accelerate the development of Faridabad city, focusing on improving infrastructure and citizen services.

Attendees:

Union Minister of State for Energy and Heavy Industries, Krishan Pal, Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma, and Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta were among the attendees at the meeting.

Khattar emphasized FMDA's forward-thinking approach, mentioning that their development plan takes into account projected population growth until 2031. He highlighted a master plan for the supply of drinking water to Faridabad city, addressing a critical need.

Infrastructure projects:

Several infrastructure projects were given the green light, including the installation of five ranney wells to enhance water supply, a sewerage system upgrade for Faridabad Municipal Corporation, and the expansion of a 20 km road along the Agra Canal to improve connectivity with neighboring areas.

The CM also announced plans to install over 1,000 cameras, including CCTV, speed cameras, and more, to enhance safety and traffic management. Additionally, the Union government has allocated ₹1,494 crore under the AMRUT-2 scheme, with ₹370 crore designated for Faridabad city. Furthermore, 50 new CNG buses will be provided to FMDA, and a proposal for 100 e-buses is in progress. Overall, these initiatives demonstrate a commitment to the comprehensive development and modernization of Faridabad and Palwal districts, with a focus on infrastructure, water supply, and enhanced safety and connectivity.
